Full face helmet ban suspended

Public Security, Disaster Management and Christian Religious Affairs Minister John Amaratunga has ordered the police to suspend the ban on the use of full face helmet which was to be in force from March 21. The injunction issued by the Appeal Court over the police ban on using full face helmets has been extended further. When the case in connection with the full face helmet ban was taken for hearing today, the Court of Appeal extended the injunction on the police ban until 19th of May.

The oldest race in Sri Lanka to take off in Mahagastota on April 4 and 5. President Ceylon Motor Sports Club said “I personally think that 2015 is going to be a historic year. 81 years past its inaugural year, and so many changes have taken place at Mahagastota. The surface is completely new, smooth and cambered, Secondly, the track side curbs are being constructed to ensure safety, and the track side catch fences would also ensure the track is safer. The CMSC has spent a lot of money for the upgrade, which was collected thanks to the benevolence of well wishes and Corporate Sponsors who understood the value of Mahagastota. I expect the records to tumble and I am sure competitors are eager to break their own class records as well as try and go for the course record as well…”
